('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) Hi all Has anyone had any experience installing onto Compaq DL380G2 servers? I have PIII/1.2Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 4x9Gb SCSI drives with SmartArray 5i controller. >From what I can see in the supported hw list it should work - the SmartArray 5i is supported in both versions. When I try 8.1 it installs fine, but won't boot. Run fdisk and the partition info is scrambled. Tried using Partition Magic to pre-create partitions. Installer still scrambled them. D/loaded 8.2. This time the installer wouldn't go past the partitioning stage - kept complaining that it needed at least 40kb of swap - I'd configured 512Mb. Tried without any swap configured - installed fine. Just before the final reboot, swapped to console and ran fdisk -l /dev/cciss/c0d0 - partitions seem fine. Booted the server; kernel loads, tries to mount / part (/dev/cciss/c0d0p5) and tells me it isn't an ext2 partition. e2fsck won't fix it. Stuck (:-(. Help.
