I was successful in putting RH7.2 on by Armada 7800. I installed gnome and KDE to get the libraries and applications, but use XFCE as my desktop (super responsive, even on my 233Mhz machine). There are a few things that I can't do/haven't figured out so am looking for help: 1) Audio feedback on boot (mic to speaker) drives me crazy! I have to use the hardware pushbuttons to mute until the mixer settings get loaded later. Is there any way to change this in the BIOS (microphone mute?) or do I need to get out my soldering iron? 2) Is there anyway to get suspend to disk (hibernate) working without a windows partition? (I have read the Linux on Armada doc from Compaq and this seems the only way...and I did a clean install without windows :-(. I did come across one site that alluded to using a special partition instead that _might_ work on a Compaq Armada. 3) What is the correct way to define floppy in fstab? I normally boot with the CD-rom drive in, and hot swap to the floppy when required. This seems to work OK, but every boot-up and shut down generates an error. 4) Is there any driver for the programmable function keys.
