Tony,

thank you for the reply.  I figured it out on my own.  I was not getting any
error message, that was the problem!  I was testing the servers with only 1
power supply (not both redundant), and although I did get past the "power
supply 1 failure" error message, the system went on to detect the scsi
devices.  Only after that did it stop on the F1 F10 prompt.  As I figured
out later, Compaq does that so you see the previous error messages, even
though it doesn't relate to the LAST message.  So, in a sense it is almost
like debugging a program.  The error is not necessarily on the line the
debugger pointed out...
It took me 2 days scratching my head to figure this one out!
