No go for BIOS settings to disregard the missing keyboard :-(

What I finally did was to take an old keyboard with sticking keys, remove
the circuit board (3"x 1.5 ") from inside the keyboard, shorten the cable to
2 feet, seal the whole circuit board in 2" diameter heat shrink tubing and
tie wrap my new "keyboard simulator" inside in an empty drive bay.  I ran
the PS/2 plug out a hole in the back of the case and plugged it into the
keyboard plug.

Works great. Lets me boot without having a real keyboard (or monitor 'nach)
for the cat to knock over or walk on.  Once booted I just SSH in for
maintenance.  If I need to F10 into the BIOS settings, I'll just use a
different machine keyboard and monitor.
