If there is a choice in the BIOS for the OS installed, then make sure you have it set correctly. Here are some suggestions in order of preference, if they don't work, then try other choices available to you: Linux, UnixWare2, ... Unixware7, ... Unix ... NT ... others.
As far as I know there's not a line that you can go to in order to change the APIC mode on the workstations. Selecting the correct OS choice should modify APIC for you.
Also, make sure you have the latest ROM for your workstation.
Sincerely,

Subject: [compaq-and-linux] Compaq PW 5000 - SMP
Hi,
I'm trying to run a PW 5000 with 2 PPro 200.with RedHat 7
Each time i try a SMP kernel, my box reboot just after loading the kernel
I have already installed linux on a compaq proliant server with smp
and i had to put the compaq server into full apic mode by activating
the advanced setup (CTRL + A in setup) but i can't find it in the setup of
my Professional Workstation !!!
So , is there someone who success in install linux on
a Bi PPro Professional Workstation 5000 ???
Thanks a lot
Franck, a french linux user........
