I'm running the RedHat updated kernel for 6.2 it is 2.2.16-3 the APIC in the cmos is configured t use full table, I will try tomorrow with another NIC, I suspect that the problem is in the TLAN driver, the problem is worst when the machine is loaded with network activity. If I have the same problem with another card, I'll try to move the setup to Full Table Mapped and give a try At 12:49 p.m. 12/01/01 -0600, you wrote: >Are you running the original 6.2 kernel? >Check with RedHat's erratta, there may be bug fixes for that. > >The proper APIC mode for Linux should be Full Table. "Full Table" is the proper choice; however, "Full Table >Mapped" should always work. > >You can change the APIC mode by running SCU, press any key, press CTRL+A, >sys config, config hw, review and modify, view or edit details, page down >twice, in the advanced features section you should see APIC mode. > >Sincerely, >Richard Black >http://www.compaq.com/linux >http://www.geocities.com/rlcomp_1999 >http://www.cpqlinux.com > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Juan Bou Riquer [mailto:jbou@cancun.com.mx] >Sent: Friday, January 12, 2001 11:35 AM >To: compaqandlinux@van-dijk.net >Subject: [compaq-and-linux] Proliant 1600R and Redhat 6.2 SMP > > >Hello >Im running a Proliant 1600R with 2 Pentium II 300 MHz processors >and Smart 2 controller 3 4.3 GB hard drives with Linux Redhat 6.2 >When I run the OS in single processor kernel everything goes ok >but every time I run a SMP kernel the computer lookups after some days >of work, nothing in the logs the computer completely hang, how I cant trace >this problem or how to detect the cause of this lookups, I upgraded the >tlan driver to the last one without any success in the lookup problem > >Thanks in advance for any information >~ >- > Juan Bou Riquer. > Internet Cancun. > jbou@cancun.com.mx > Tel. 87-2601 Fax. 84-3809 > > >--------------------------------------------------------------------- >To unsubscribe, e-mail: compaqandlinux-unsubscribe@van-dijk.net >For additional commands, e-mail: compaqandlinux-help@van-dijk.net >For the archives : http://www.van-dijk.net > >--------------------------------------------------------------------- >To unsubscribe, e-mail: compaqandlinux-unsubscribe@van-dijk.net >For additional commands, e-mail: compaqandlinux-help@van-dijk.net >For the archives : http://www.van-dijk.net ~ - Juan Bou Riquer.
