update the system ROM: http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server. Get the latest SCU (System Configuration Utility). check the side panel for switch settings. There are differences between the 100MHz and 133/166MHz proc brd. Locate that board as well as the processor. Note the memory section below, the memory goes on the Proc brd; therefore the proc brds are different (i.e. will not support a different class processor = 100MHz brd is stuck at 100MHz, 133/166 brd holds only 133/166MHz CPU's, FlexSMP Dual Processor Board will hold either 200MHz or 166MHz): Memory ProLiant 1500 5/100: 16-MB of ECC memory standard expandable to 208 MB ProLiant 1500 5/133 and 5/166: 32-MB of ECC memory standard expandable to 256-MB ProLiant 1500 with 6/200 FlexSMP Dual Processor Board: 32-MB of Buffered EDO DIMM Memory standard, expandable to 512-MB Sincerely, Richard Black -----Original Message----- From: Paul Rozanski [mailto:paulr@ici.net] Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2000 3:53 PM To: compaqandlinux@cpqlin.van-dijk.net Subject: RE: [compaqandlinux] Processor Upgrade actually, i was wondering can i drop a 133 or 166 processor in the current processor board and are there settings for the bus and clock speed that I can change? I put a 133 in there before and it came back with an invalid processor error in the configuration...
