Richard,
Just a followup to let you know your advice worked
about cpqarray on this Proliant 2k. I cheated though,
I had an extra 2 gig drive here and plugged it into
the embedded scsi controller and installed on it.
Everything installed fine, and now boots ok

I then decided to recompile the kernel to include the
cpqarray as static and that went OK (after some
confusion on as86, (did you know it's not in bin86
anymore, redhat changed the name to dev86?). I now let
the machine boot up and run fdisk on /dev/ida/c0d0 and
make a partition. I now write the table and exit, then
run mkfs on that partition (c0dop1), I can now mount
the partition and write to it, read from it,
everything is good, until I reboot, when I reboot I
still get the message "Unknown partition table" and am
no longer able to mount that partition. No the real
weird part, if I run fdisk on the array again, make no
changes and write and exit again, I can mount the disk
again.... I found in the mailing list archives a
similar scenario, but didn't find an answer.

Thanks for your help and if you have any more
suggestions let me know. I am going to try and copy
this to the list and see if anyone else has fixed
this.
